Assurance

Definition: Assurance is a type of insurance or financing that provides compensation in the event of a loss. An assurance contract is a legally binding contract between a party and an insurer that specifies both the terms of coverage and the outcome of the incident (or series of incidents) under certain specified conditions. While the exact nature and terms of the coverage may vary, the basic idea is that a provider will provide compensation when the company (or customer) can either meet its legal obligations or when actual losses exceed an amount specified in the policy.

Life Insurance Vs. Assurance

While the two are similar, assurance is on a different program from Life Insurance. Most insurance companies offer neither life insurance nor assurance. However, some do offer both types of coverage. 

The goal of assurance is to get people through their working years with enough money to help them meet their basic living needs and ensure they have a comfortable retirement. It provides a minimum income for seniors and enables them to pass on their savings and assets to their children, qualified children, or other relatives instead of death benefits.

 A policy of insurance is a contract between two parties, usually an insurance company and a policyholder. The contract terms define how much of each party’s estate the insurer will pay to the policyholder upon the insured person’s death. Life insurance is the oldest forms of insurance, along with property insurance and health insurance. It is available to both individuals and businesses.

Negative assurance is a staple of business and finance because it’s easy to perform and gives businesses a competitive advantage. No proof of any kind is needed – the absence of doubt creates a safe space in which to operate. Negative assurance assumes that the unknown has a probability less than that of the known. The goal of negative assurance is to avoid taking actions that might make you vulnerable to error or loss. The basis of negative assurance is that there is no reason to doubt the truth of the already established information, so there’s no need to search for information that may contradict it.

Unfortunately, this approach can also create poor decision-making because it removes uncertainty from the equation. In addition, negative assurance greatly diminishes anyone’s ability to recognize when they’ve made a bad choice or taken a risk that isn’t worth taking.
